UFiber GPON - How to Upgrade the OLT Firmware


Readers will learn how to upgrade the firmware on an OLT using the Ubiquiti Network Management System (UNMS) or the Web UI. The latest UFiber OLT firmware can be downloaded from the UFiber Downloads page.

ATTENTION: Starting from the v3.1.0 UFiber firmware release, the ONU firmware is bundled with the OLT firmware. Upgrading the OLT firmware will also update all connected ONUs automatically.

Upgrading via UNMS

The Ubiquiti Network Management System (UNMS) allows for easy remote device management and mass firmware upgrades for adopted devices. UNMS will automatically and periodically download and store the latest firmware releases, which can then be transferred to the OLT.

GUI: Access the UNMS Controller Web Portal.

1. Navigate to the connection Firmware Manager  firmwaremanager.png  to verify the available firmware releases.

2. Navigate to the Devices  devices.png  to upgrade the relevant devices.

Actions > Upgrade devices firmware


3. Select the OLT(s) that you wish to upgrade and click the Set Firmware Versions to the Latest button.


4. Upgrade the selected device(s) and wait for the firmware upgrade to complete.

NOTE: The firmware upgrade process is indicated with the  process.png  loading icon.

5. The OLT will automatically reboot once the firmware upgrade is complete.

Upgrading via the Web UI

GUI: Access the UF-OLT Web UI.

1. Download the OLT firmware from the UFiber Downloads page.

2. Navigate to the System settings in the bottom left corner of the Web UI.

System > Upgrade System Image > Upload a file...

3. Select Upload a file and browse your filesystem for the UFiber OLT firmware release you wish to upload.

4. Wait for the firmware upgrade to complete. 

NOTE: The firmware upgrade process is indicated with the  process.png  loading icon.

5. Reboot the device when prompted.
