TOUGHSwitch - How to Add VLANs

First go to the VLAN tab in your device and click on the 'Add' button to add a new VLAN ID, in this example I'm adding VLAN 172.

Make sure 'Enabled' checkbox is activated. Then tag, untag or exclude the specified VLAN, in this case 172, in different ports, or select Trunk mode to tag all VLANs and untag your Native VLAN on all Trunk ports.  Native VLAN is sometimes referred to as Default VLAN or PVID.

In this example settings ports 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 as Trunk.  Port 5 is not a Trunk port and has only VLAN 172 untagged.

We have also set the management LAN to VLAN 100.  (Instead of thee default VLAN1).  This means all management of the TS will be done on the VLAN 100 network.  You can also manage the TS via the Management port.

IMPORTANT:  The MGMT (Management) Port should not be used as a switch port (e.g not for passing traffic).  Using the MGMT port as uplink/downlink will result in poor performance/packet loss.

Then Apply changes.

Important note: If you add/modify a VLAN ID, you don't have to reset the switch to apply changes, just click on the 'apply' button.

We're sorry to hear that!
