airFiber - Good signal but bad data rates

If you've good signal strength in all your Signal Strength indicators, but your airFiber5 link isn't able to modulate at maximum data rate for these signal levels (please check the AF5/5U Receive Sensitivity table for more information), please make sure your link meets the following parameters:

  • Clear Line of Sight (LOS) between two sites
  • No objects that could be causing reflection issues. If the antennas are installed in a roof with metal or any reflective surfaces, install the AF5 as high up as possible, at least 3meters (10ft) above any reflective surface (please read this article Best location for a high performance link)
  • There's no high interference in the frequencies you are using, you can use airView to determine the best channel (available in firmware 2.1 or higher)
  • There's no signal mismatch among 4 signal strength indicators. Maximum deviation should be less than 4dB.

Important: Since firmware version 2.2, signal strength bar is automatically adjusted to link distance, so if link is aligned perfectly it will show full signal strength bar.
