EdgeRouter - UBNT Device Discovery

Readers will learn how to enable, disable and run the UBNT discovery feature on an Edgerouter.

The UBNT device discovery feature is made up of two services (both services are enabled by default):

  • UBNT discovery service - Control whether the EdgeRouter is able to discover nearby devices.
  • UBNT discovery-server service - Control whether the EdgeRouter is discoverable by other nearby devices.

The UBNT device discovery feature works by sending IPv4 broadcast ( messages on UDP port 10001. There is support for IPv6.

The UBNT device discovery tool can be used on workstations to find Ubiquiti devices on the network.

Applicable to the latest EdgeOS firmware on all EdgeRouter models. Knowledge of the Command Line Interface (CLI) and basic networking knowledge is required.
