UBNT Device Discovery

The UBNT Device Discovery feature consists of two services:

  • ubnt-discover Control whether the EdgeRouter is able to discover nearby devices.
  • ubnt-discover-server Control whether the EdgeRouter is discoverable by other nearby devices.

The UBNT Device Discovery feature works by sending IPv4 broadcast ( messages on UDP port 10001. The UBNT Device Discovery tool can be used on workstations to find Ubiquiti devices on the network.

Both discovery services are enabled by default. Follow the steps below to disable the services:

CLI: Access the command line interface (CLI). You can do this using the CLI button in the GUI or by using a program such as PuTTY.

Disable the ubnt-discover service globally or on a single interface.

set service ubnt-discover disable
set service ubnt-discover interface <interface-name> disable commit ; save

Disable the ubnt-discover-server service globally.

set service ubnt-discover-server disable
commit ; save

You can verify the service status using the following commands from operational mode:

show ubnt discover-server

sudo netstat -ano | grep 10001
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address           Foreign Address         State       Timer
