Before Google Maps API can be used, you must make sure required APIs are enabled in your Google API console.

To view your list of enabled APIs:

  1. Go to the Google API console.
  2. Select or create your project.
  3. From the list of APIs on the Dashboard look for Google Maps JavaScript API, Google Maps Geocoding API, Google Places API Web Service and Google Maps Elevation API.
  4. If you see the APIs on the list, you're all set. If the APIs are not listed, enable them:
    1. At the top of the page, select ENABLE API to display the Library tab. Alternatively, from the left side menu, select Library.
    2. Search first for Google Maps Javascript API, Google Maps Geocoding API, Google Places API Web Service, Google Maps Elevation API and select them from the results list.
    3. On each API select ENABLE and when the process finishes, the APIs will appear in the list on the Dashboard.
