Introduction

In 2015, the new airMAX AC line of products was released. This platform requires different firmware than the XM/XW used with the airMAX M line. The airMAX AC products use either XC or WA. You can easily check to see which firmware is needed for your specific model by checking the Main Dashboard of the airOS webUI.

Identifying a Device's Platform

You can easily identify if your airMAX AC product uses XC or WA platform by looking at the firmware version in your device's main tab. The device's platform, as well as the firmware version will appear in the top bar of the UI as well as in the version line.

XC devices will display an "XC" next to the firmware version. In this example above, the firmware is 8.0.2 and uses the XC platform. On the other hand, WA devices will show a "WA" next to the firmware version.

How to Download the Correct Firmware

1. You can download the latest firmware for your device from https://www.ubnt.com/download

2. Go to the airMAX AC section on the left hand menu, and select your product. Click on the correct firmware, either XC or WA, depending on what platform your device uses. It must match with the platform seen in the webUI. In some cases, the XC and WA firmware version number could be different. However, in all cases, it's recommended to have the latest firmware version available for your device's platform.
